Other Important Information
Visa Requirements
The documents you need to enter France vary depending on where you are from.
Do you need a Visa? Please consult the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website to know if you require one.
In some cases, France authorities may ask documents showing where you will stay, confirmation of an organised tour, return air tickets, tourist circuit, or a personal invitation letter. You may also be asked to show proof of having enough financial resources to support yourself during your stay in France. Please note that neither the EMSC nor the ESC will provide you with a medical insurance which may be requested during the visa application (you have to get your own health insurance).
Since conditions may vary, we recommend you contact your local France Consulate or Embassy for more information on these requirements. More information can be found at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We advise you to contact as early as possible the French consular services in your country to know the list of documents required and the waiting period to obtain your visa (variable from one country to another).
Obtaining a visa can take up to several months according to where you are from, so enter the procedure as early as possible. Please note that the visa of French embassies and consulates are generally by appointment.
In case of refusal of visas by the French authorities, the ESC2010 and the EMSC will not be held responsible if you were required to cancel your participation in the conference.
Letter of Invitation
Participants requiring an official invitation letter in order to obtain a visa, to raise travel funds or for administrative purposes should apply for this invitation by at least 8 weeks prior to the meeting at the very latest.
Requiring this letter early enough to obtain a visa is your responsability.
It should be understood, however, that such an invitation does not guarantee you will obtain a visa. The ESC and the EMSC can not intervene in the visa procedure nor can they help you obtain one. The ESC and the EMSC are not involved in the visa attribution in any way.
The deadline for requesting a Letter of Invitation is July, 1st 2010.
It should be understood that the organisers can only issue an invitation which includes the period of the conference plus the Saturdays and Sundays directly before and after the conference, respectively (the same goes for the Training Course).
Please send your request for a Letter of Invitation to contact_@_esc2010.eu (please remove the underscores).
Include your name, affiliation, email and address.
Please note that by default you will receive an electronic Letter of Invitation with a scanned signature. Contact French authorities to know if you need a letter with an original signature and let us know.
Ordering lunch for your project meetings
If you are holding your project meeting during one of the ESC2010 lunch breaks, you can order meals from Le Corum restaurant for your participants:
- either lunch boxes (1 sandwich, 1 salad, 1 dessert , 1 small bottle of water, around 19 euros),
- or a full lunch (around 22 euros),
- or mere sandwiches (5,50 euros).
prices may change without notice, these 3 prices are just an estimation.
For a more detailed information about the content of the meals and the different kind of sandwiches, please contact directly the restaurant as ingredients may vary.
You have to make your order the day before your meeting before noon, by telephone or email. Payment has to be made directly to the Corum restaurant (on-site) either by cash or credit card. You will have to collect your meals directly in the restaurant (payment has to be made at that time), as they can't bring them in your meeting room
